BONUS MATERIAL:
The best thing to ever happen to Hawk & Dove. And it wasn't even supposed to.
Armageddon 2001 is one of the greatest missed opportunities in comics' history. Originally, Monarch was slated to be revealed as Captain Atom. However, when the surprise was spoiled, DC editors decided that the reveal had to be changed...

And it was. To Hawk. 

So, instead of Captain Atom, one of DC's most complex and interesting characters, Monarch was revealed as Hawk, one of DC's most... ugh. 

Anyway, here is a look at the major players of the otherwise great storyline- with a Monarch that stats up how the character looked in Armageddon 2001 #1, before the editorial change, and how he appeared in Armageddon 2001 #2 and Zero Hour.
